History Group member Anne Thomas and her husband Paul gave a compelling talk on the 1950 Llandow air disaster—a tragedy that occurred just 24 hours after Wales celebrated a historic Triple Crown rugby victory.

The presenters detailed the heartbreaking story of the "Star Girl", an Avro Tudor V aircraft, carrying Welsh rugby fans home from Dublin. The plane crashed in a Sigingstone field, killing 75 passengers and 5 crew members. There were only three survivors of what was then the world's deadliest aviation accident.

Filled with moving local anecdotes, the talk deeply resonated with the audience, prompting several members to share their own stories of the event.

To this day, the victims are remembered through regular memorial events in Sigingstone, supported by the RAF and the local rugby clubs profoundly affected by the tragedy.
