Members of the Cowbridge u3a Garden Group joined Welsh Historic Gardens Trust Members for a tour of the gardens belonging to the various historic houses across St Fagan's.
We learned about the research undertaken before houses were relocated. Studies revealed evidence of raised beds at a Carmarthenshire property to avoid water logging, and we heard about the introduction of potatoes to the Welsh diet. Heritage varieties of beans and peas are also being grown in some of the gardens.
This was a fascinating tour showing us that the gardens linked to the individual properties have their own story to tell.
