Twenty eight teams, each of 4 members, participated in the November 2019 Rotary Club Charity Quiz in Cowbridge Town Hall. Many Cowbridge U3A members were spread around the contesting foursomes.
There were 12 rounds of 10 general knowledge questions each, split into three sessions, with only 4 minutes allowed to answer each round before papers were collected. The intervals came as a welcome relief!

The ‘official’ Cowbridge U3A team were running in joint second place after the first two sessions, but faltered in the final stretch to finish in third place, 5 points behind the second place team and 10 behind the winners, who registered a score of 92.
The quartet of Fran, Val, Hywel and Steve received a cheque for £50 for the charity of their choice, ‘Cancer Research’.
Once again, it was a very agreeable social event, where the big winners are the Rotary charities.
The composition of the Cowbridge teams essentially depends on who is available and willing to participate in U3A and charity quizzes, rather than the desire to have an elite, winning squad. If you would like to join the membership pool, you will be extremely welcome – just contact the Quiz Group Leader.
