The longer walk group had a very pleasant 6 mile walk just before the school Summer holidays.
Six of us set out from the car park at Bryngarw Country Park on a bright warm morning. We climbed up through the country park and then a rough track down to Llangeinor before ascending again to catch breathtaking views down to the coast at Ogmore by sea and across to the Devon coast.
A walk along the top of the Ogmore valley following the Ridgeway walk with sights of lesser spotted and green woodpeckers and the sounds of linnet and Thrush. A slight detour, due to ferns completely covering the footpath we wanted to use, led us down to welcome refreshment at Blackmill.
The return to Brynmenyn was a casual one down the cycle path and a stop at the ford on the Ogmore river for the photo opportunity and back to Bryngarw for a well-earned picnic.
