August 2025. Wines from small Spanish producers

The August meeting started with Cygnus Brut Rose Organic Cava which used Grenache, and Pinot Noir grapes from Penedès, Catalonia. This brut rosé, made with organic grapes, was sensual and delicate with scents of flowers and fresh fruit. Refreshing and long-lasting.

Next was Mollusca Blanco white wine from Mallorca – 2023. It incorporated prensal blanc and chardonnay grapes from the Pla i Llevant - a Spanish Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) for wines located on the island of Mallorca. The appearance was a pale gold colour producing a clean and bright wine. The nose was aromatic with primary fruity aromas and floral notes. It has secondary dairy aromas.

Thirdly, Bruno Murciano Parajes Cabriel – 2022 utilising bobal grapes and from Valencia. A young red wine with fresh red and black fruit flavours. A lovely silky texture, well balanced tannins and acidity and light fresh notes make this a very easy drinking red.

Finally, Tinto Toro OROT Roble – 2021 with tempranillo grapes from Toro D.O, producer Bodega Toresanas. On the nose, it offered intense aromas of ripe black fruits, such as blackberry and blueberry. The palate was fresh and balanced, with plenty of black fruit, a touch of spice, and balsamic notes, showcasing a good structure and a long finish.
