The August meeting was presented by new members Ann and Frank. They had purchased wines from the local supermarkets while residing at their holiday cottage in Languedoc Roussillion, in southern France. We started with a white Sauvignon Blanc which was light and refreshing. Second, a Picpoule de Pinet which was more full-bodied with a hint of citrus. Thirdly, a rosé wine made from Syrah and Grenache grapes. This was fruity with a deeper taste than most rosé wines.  Fourthly, a red Pinot Noir, a smooth well-balanced wine with a pleasant depth of flavour. Finally, a rich, smooth red wine from the Pyrenees mountain range. Made from Carignan, Syrah and Grenache grapes. It was fruity and tannic, without being harsh on the palate. The wines were all good quality and the members were amazed at the low prices paid, between €3-€8!
