November 2024

At our meeting on November 13th we were presented with French Wines that had been obtained by Val from the Wine Society’s Winter sale of Fine Wines.

We began with Terres Nouvelles 2019, a white wine from the Rousillon region by the western Mediterranean, made with the Grenache Gris grape, taken from old vines. This was followed by another white, Selon Oudan 2022, coming from an area to the west of Lyon, made from Viognier grapes grown according to organic and biodynamic principles. Then followed two reds, the first being L’Aube 2019, made from Syrah grapes grown in the northern Rhone valley. The last wine was Clos Triguedina Probus 2018, a Malbec from the south western region of Cahors, which is where Malbec originated before being taken up so enthusiastically by the South Americans.

Next month we shall hold a Festive Supper, when members will bring along seasonal food to accompany wines appropriate for the season.
