November: three short talks by members
i) "Two Weddings and a Coronation" by Thelma Jeeves. The story of two career soldiers (her great grandfather and grandfather) and how she came to possess the orders of service for two Royal weddings and the 1953 coronation.
ii) "Hiroshima; City resurrected from Ashes" by Keith Morgan. How the city, devastated by an atomic bomb in 1945, has been rebuilt and become a thriving metropolis and been declared a peace memorial city.
iii) "Two Bayonets" by Jan Lewis. A short history of two prized possessions; a bayonet for the British "Brown Bess" flintlock musket (1720-1836) and another blade for the French "Gras" breech-loading infantry rifle (1874-1886).
